From novice to Presidential Citation. How 10 years of Bold Leadership made a difference for Portugal
João was the driving force behind Toastmasters' growth in Portugal. As co-founder of the f1st club, he led the expansion nationwide, helping create 6 clubs and supporting many more, from north to south in the following 10 years.
His work even reached Brazil, where he supported new clubs.
As District 59 Director, João contributed to the creation of 65 new clubs across Continental Europe 🌎 tand brought World Champions Lance Miller and Darren LaCroix to Portugal for 2 major conferences.
After 18 years he is still an active member of the Lisbon MBA Toastmasters and this year he was awarded the Presidential Citation for his incredible impact on Toastmasters in Portugal. We are so proud!
Beyond Toastmasters, he is passionate about jiu-jitsu, judo, and ping pong, and he also thrives as an IT project manager.

Anybody can do it! Delivering a speech is so easy
This workshop is about delivering a speech of 3 minutes or a full speech. This practical method will help you to think of a subject in 30 seconds. You'll get more confidence to deliver an unprepared speech, to be creative, humouristic and...... It's impossible to keep on having excuses, that you don't have time to prepare, that you don't know what to talk about. The only thing you need is to have your SMARTPHONE with you. Everybody will have an active role during the process and have fun during the process.
Conny Oraby is a diversity coach, hypnotherapist, and dedicated Toastmaster since 2016, holding the DTM title. In 2023, she demonstrated her linguistic versatility by delivering speeches in Dutch, French, Spanish, English, and Arabic. Tiago is a couch Olympian, a wannabe marathon runner (only on the weekends), and a master of looking busy while sipping coffee! Besides that, IT Consultant and Toastmaster since 2018. Ricardo has been a Toastmaster since 1755. He remembers quite well when the meetings were held in the dungeons of the Castle of Lisbon. He strugles with tecnologies and presently uses a Nokia 3310 alhtough he's a seasoned Entrepreneur. Teresa is a Salsa enthusiast, who is also addicted to books and Chistmas once she'lll start decoration on November 09th because it's never early to start preparing! Toastmaster since 2022, this year, she entered the Portuguese Speech Final Contest in Porto.
